Three arrested in Umaria iron theft; police seize 5.5‑quintal rods and Rs 8 Lakh pickup

Police in Ghaghri, Umaria district, arrested three suspects after CCTV and a tip led them to a theft of 5.5 quintal iron rods; a pickup truck worth about ₹8 million was also seized.
Police officials in Ghaghri, a locality of Umaria district in Madhya Pradesh, reported that a welding shop outside its premises was broken into and 5.5 quintals of iron rods were stolen. The stolen material, weighing roughly a tonne, was taken from the shop’s storage area in broad daylight.
Investigators traced the crime to three individuals after reviewing CCTV footage from the shop and receiving a tip from a local informant. The suspects were apprehended at a nearby location, and during the operation the police recovered the stolen iron as well as a pickup truck valued at approximately ₹8 million.
The arrested persons are being held for further questioning, and the case is being forwarded to the district court for prosecution. No additional arrests or related incidents have been reported so far.
