A makeshift bridge over the Buthhi River, erected just ten days ago in Manjholi panchayat, collapsed for the third time, severing road links for more than a dozen villages.
A temporary wooden bridge spanning the Buthhi River in Manjholi panchayat of Imamganj block was swept away for the third time on Saturday, just ten days after its construction. The structure, put up as an emergency measure after earlier washouts, could not withstand the sudden surge of water caused by heavy rains.
The collapse has left more than a dozen villages in the surrounding area without a direct road link to the main highway, forcing residents to travel several kilometres on longer detours to reach schools, markets and health centres.
Villagers gathered at the site and voiced concerns over the quality of the hastily built bridge, demanding that authorities replace the makeshift crossing with a permanent, flood‑resilient structure. Local officials have acknowledged the complaints but have not yet announced a concrete timeline for a permanent solution.
