From January, Tamil Nadu's state-run liquor shops (Tasmac) will restrict cash payments above Rs 500. Point-of-sale (POS) machines will be implemented to encourage digital transactions.
The Tamil Nadu government is set to implement a new policy at Tasmac liquor outlets, restricting cash payments exceeding Rs 500 from January. This move aims to promote digital transactions and reduce the reliance on physical cash. To facilitate this change, Tasmac will be installing point-of-sale (POS) machines at all its outlets across the state. Customers will now be encouraged to use digital payment methods such as debit cards, credit cards, and mobile wallets for transactions above Rs 500.
