The government has announced a cashless treatment scheme covering up to Rs1.5 lakh for victims of road accidents.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has unveiled a new scheme that will allow victims of road accidents to receive cashless medical treatment worth up to Rs1.5 lakh. The initiative is aimed at easing the financial strain on families and ensuring prompt access to quality healthcare after a crash.
Under the programme, hospitals that are part of the national health network will provide services without any upfront payment, subject to the stipulated limit per patient. Beneficiaries must present valid documentation of the road‑traffic injury to qualify for the cashless benefit.
Officials said the scheme aligns with the government's broader road‑safety and health‑care objectives, seeking to improve post‑accident outcomes and reduce out‑of‑pocket expenses for affected households.
