Tamil Nadu launches Philately Passport to boost stamp collecting

The Times of India announced that a philately passport has been introduced in the state of Tamil Nadu. The new passport is intended to provide a structured way for stamp collectors to document and exchange their collections. Officials said the launch aims to encourage interest in philately among the public. The initiative is part of broader efforts to promote cultural hobbies in the region. Further details about the passport’s features and distribution are expected to be released by the authorities.
The launch event was attended by representatives from the postal department and local philatelic societies, who highlighted the educational value of stamp collecting. Participants were given the first set of passports and guidelines on how to use them.
Stakeholders hope that the passport will attract younger audiences and preserve the legacy of Indian postage stamps through active engagement.
