A group of students forced entry through the main gate of Indore University on Thursday, protesting the delay in holding student‑union elections.

On Thursday, a number of students broke open the main entrance of Indore University in Madhya Pradesh, gaining unauthorized access to the campus. The protestors used makeshift tools to force the gate, causing minor damage to the structure.

The demonstrators said they were acting to press the university administration to conduct student‑union elections that have been pending for several months. They argued that the absence of an elected body hampers representation of student concerns.

University officials responded by calling the police, and a small contingent arrived to restore order. Several students were detained for trespassing and property damage, while the administration announced a review of the election schedule.

The incident highlights growing frustration among student communities across Indian campuses over delayed internal elections and the perceived lack of dialogue with authorities.
