Following water releases from Banasagar Dam and Indrapuri Barrage, the Son River in Bihar has surged, prompting authorities to issue a flood alert and advise residents along the banks to stay cautious.

Continuous rainfall across the region, compounded by a natural disaster in neighboring Nepal, has caused river levels in Bihar to climb rapidly. The surge has been especially pronounced in the Son River, which now flows at a markedly higher volume.

State officials confirmed that water was released from the Banasagar Dam and the Indrapuri Barrage to manage upstream storage. The discharge has added to the Son River's flow, leading the administration to issue an official flood alert for districts along its banks.

Authorities have urged people living near the river to exercise extreme caution, warning that rising waters have already inundated fields and left thousands without shelter. Rescue teams are on standby, and monitoring of dam outflows continues throughout the day.

The department has also instructed local police and disaster response units to assist in evacuations if the situation worsens, while urging the public to stay informed through official channels.
