Sikkim's Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang addressed a gathering today, commending the Aamas women's organization as the "true pillars" of society. The remarks came as the state government rolled out the Sashaktikaran scheme, providing financial and material assistance to 32,000 mothers across the region.
The beneficiaries, selected under the state's women‑empowerment program, received cash transfers and essential items aimed at improving health, nutrition and livelihood outcomes for their families. Officials said the distribution aligns with the government's commitment to gender equity and rural development.
Tamang highlighted the role of Aamas in mobilising community support and urged continued participation to ensure the scheme's impact reaches the most vulnerable households.
