The Bollywood star’s latest film, King, sold its overseas distribution rights for a record ₹175 crore, surpassing previous benchmarks.

Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film King has secured a record‑breaking sale of its overseas distribution rights for ₹175 crore, according to reports from the film’s production house.

The deal, announced earlier this month, eclipses the previous high of ₹140 crore set by the star’s 2023 release Pathaan, and positions King as the highest‑grossing overseas rights sale in Bollywood history.

Industry analysts say the figure reflects growing confidence in the film’s international appeal, with pre‑sale agreements already in place for major markets such as the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia.

While King’s domestic release is slated for early 2025, the overseas rights deal is expected to boost the film’s global box‑office potential and set a new benchmark for future Bollywood releases.
