Severe Ganga Floods Trigger Alert Across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand

The Ganga has risen sharply in its upper reaches, crossing critical thresholds that have led the meteorological department to issue a flood alert for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. Local administrations in the three states have been instructed to monitor riverbanks closely and to prepare emergency response teams.

Officials warned that low‑lying villages, agricultural fields and transport routes are at risk of inundation if the water continues to rise. Relief agencies have been placed on standby, and evacuation plans are being reviewed for the most vulnerable settlements.
