Punjab police seized heroin, pistols and hand grenades and arrested seven suspects in a coordinated raid on a smuggling network in Amritsar.
Amritsar rural police launched a joint operation that uncovered a network involved in the trafficking of narcotics, illegal firearms and explosives. The raid resulted in the arrest of seven individuals suspected of coordinating the illicit activities.
During the operation, officers recovered a cache that included hand grenades, pistols and a quantity of heroin. The seized weapons and drugs point to a well‑armed syndicate capable of supplying both street-level dealers and organized crime groups.
Police officials described the bust as a significant step in curbing the flow of contraband into Punjab. The arrested suspects are being held for further interrogation, and the evidence collected will be forwarded to the district court for prosecution.
The crackdown follows a series of recent investigations targeting drug and arms smuggling across northern India, underscoring the authorities' focus on dismantling cross‑border criminal networks.
