The Selaulim reservoir in Goa has reported a brimful water level, yet the state's Water Resources Department has appealed to residents to maintain water‑saving practices.
The Water Resources Department (WRD) of Goa announced that the Selaulim reservoir has reached its maximum storage, with water levels described as "brimful" following recent rains. The reservoir, a key source for domestic and agricultural supply in the region, now holds water at its designed capacity.
Despite the abundant supply, WRD officials cautioned the public against complacency. In a statement, the department urged households, farms and industries to continue practising water‑saving measures, emphasizing that the monsoon season can be erratic and future shortages remain possible.
The department highlighted that past years have seen severe water stress in parts of Goa, and maintaining disciplined consumption will help buffer any sudden drops in inflow. Citizens are advised to fix leaks, use efficient fixtures and limit non‑essential usage until the next assessment of reservoir levels.
