Delhi police have imposed strict security measures at Central Park before a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally, issuing a call to hoist the national flag at 5 p.m. and closing the park to the public.
Delhi police deployed additional personnel and installed barricades around Central Park on Tuesday, citing the upcoming Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally as the reason for heightened security. The area was cordoned off, and entry points were monitored to prevent any unauthorized access. The park, a popular recreational spot in the capital, was officially closed to the public from the afternoon onward.
The police also issued a public notice urging citizens to gather at the park at 5 p.m. to hoist the Indian national flag, a symbolic gesture often associated with political gatherings. Officials said the flag‑hoisting would be coordinated with the rally organizers to ensure orderly conduct.
Authorities emphasized that the measures are preventive, aiming to avoid any untoward incidents during the political event. While the closure inconveniences regular visitors, officials assured that normal operations will resume once the rally concludes and the security perimeter is lifted.
