A deteriorating school roof in Satlu Devki village, Dungarpur, collapsed while about 120 students and teachers were inside, but no injuries were reported.
The roof of a dilapidated primary school in Satlu Devki, a village under the Douda block of Dungarpur district, gave way suddenly on Monday morning. The structure, described as a “jarrar” (ruined) room, collapsed while the school was in session.
At the time of the incident roughly 120 pupils along with several teachers were present inside the building. Quick evacuation by staff and nearby residents prevented any serious harm, and officials confirmed that there were no injuries.
Local authorities arrived promptly, cordoned off the site and shifted the children to a nearby government school to continue classes. The district education officer said an investigation would be launched to determine the cause and that immediate repairs or reconstruction would be undertaken.
The episode highlights long‑standing concerns over the condition of school infrastructure in remote parts of Rajasthan, prompting calls for accelerated funding under the state’s school safety schemes.
