Business analyst Samit Garg has linked the growth of India’s experience economy to rising household incomes, predicting a surge in spending on services such as travel, entertainment and wellness.

Samit Garg, a senior analyst at Everything Experiential, highlighted that the expanding middle class in India is now able to allocate a larger share of its disposable income towards experiential spending. He noted that sectors such as travel, hospitality, and wellness are likely to see accelerated growth as consumers seek higher quality and personalized experiences.

Garg pointed out that while product consumption has traditionally dominated the Indian market, the shift towards experiences is gaining momentum, especially among urban youth and high‑earning professionals. He cited data showing a steady rise in per‑capita expenditure on leisure and cultural activities over the past decade.

The analyst also emphasized that the experience economy will create new job opportunities and spur innovation in service delivery. He expects that businesses will need to adapt by offering more curated, tech‑enabled experiences to meet evolving consumer expectations.

"Rising incomes are not just about buying more goods; they’re about buying more moments," Garg said. "India’s experience economy is poised to become a major driver of economic growth in the coming years."
