Rising Heart Attack Risk Among Bihar Youth Linked to Pollution and Lifestyle

Health experts say heart attacks are becoming more common among young people in Bihar, citing air pollution and poor lifestyle habits as key drivers.

Patna-based cardiologists have highlighted a growing concern that heart attacks are no longer confined to older age groups in Bihar. Recent observations indicate a noticeable rise in cardiovascular incidents among people in their twenties and thirties.

The specialists point to two primary contributors: deteriorating air quality across the state and lifestyle choices such as irregular meals, lack of physical activity, and high consumption of processed foods. Both factors are known to increase stress on the heart and elevate the risk of arrhythmias.

According to medical guidelines, a healthy adult heart beats about 72 times per minute. Even a single irregular beat can signal underlying problems, prompting doctors to advise regular check‑ups, balanced diets, and daily exercise to mitigate the threat.

Public health officials are urging local authorities to strengthen anti‑pollution measures and promote awareness campaigns that target young populations, aiming to curb the upward trend before it translates into a larger health crisis.
