A gharial, rescued from Rajasthan three months ago, has been released into the Beas River.
A gharial, a critically endangered species of crocodile, has been released into the Beas River in Himachal Pradesh. The reptile was rescued from Rajasthan three months ago and brought to the Beas River for rehabilitation and release. Gharials are known for their long, slender snouts and are primarily found in the northern Indian rivers. Their populations have been declining due to habitat loss and pollution. This release is a positive step towards the conservation of this unique species.
