Rakesh Mahajan Addresses Press Conference, Leaders’ Meeting in Srinagar; Announces Seva Jyoti Yatra Across J&K on October 7

Srinagar: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and State Vice President, Jammu & Kashmir, Rakesh Mahajan, addressed a press conference in Srinagar and held detailed interactions with BJP leaders and workers regarding the ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and the proposed Seva Jyoti Yatra to be held across all administrative districts of Jammu & Kashmir on October 7.

Mahajan was accompanied by BJP State General Secretary Anwar Khan and BJP spokesperson and State Co-Convenor of the Seva Jyoti programme Danish Bhat. The interaction was attended by district-level BJP leaders, Seva Jyoti Yatra conveners and party workers from across the Kashmir region.

Addressing the media, Mahajan said that the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, being observed from September 17 to October 17, has been dedicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s spirit of public service. He said that instead of celebrating his birthday merely as a personal occasion, BJP workers across the country are observing the period through various service-oriented activities and programmes.

He said the campaign commenced on September 17 with the “Ek Diya Aashirwad Ka” initiative and will reach a significant milestone on October 7 with the Seva Jyoti Yatra being organised across all administrative districts.

Mahajan highlighted that October 7 marks 25 years since Narendra Modi assumed office as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001, completing a 25-year journey in public life and service. He said the occasion is being observed as a symbol of the continuing commitment of a leader who has consistently described himself as a sevak of the people.

He further said that on October 7, BJP workers from the booth, Mandal and district levels, along with members of the public and prominent citizens, will assemble at designated locations across the administrative districts. The programme will include a live telecast of Prime Minister Modi’s address, connecting the programmes across the country.

“Jammu & Kashmir will also participate with full enthusiasm. Workers and citizens who believe in the development journey of the country will come together at these programmes,” Mahajan said.

He added that following the establishment of the Seva Jyoti, the respective location will be identified as “Seva Jyoti Chowk”, giving the initiative a permanent public identity and symbolising the spirit of service associated with the programme.

Mahajan also said that Jammu & Kashmir is an integral part of India and that the BJP would continue to engage directly with the people to present facts about the region’s development journey. Referring to the resolutions and political narrative being propagated by the present government, he said the BJP would respond through constructive public outreach and by highlighting the difference between political statements and actual delivery on the ground.

He said that the impact of various Union Government welfare and development initiatives can be seen across Jammu & Kashmir, including tourism, business, infrastructure, connectivity and other sectors, and that the region is moving forward alongside the rest of the country.

BJP State General Secretary Anwar Khan, while welcoming Mahajan to Srinagar, said that the Seva Jyoti programme would be organised across Jammu & Kashmir with full enthusiasm and would connect the people of the region with the nationwide spirit of service and public welfare.

BJP spokesperson and State Co-Convenor of the Seva Jyoti Yatra, Danish Bhat, said that the programme in the Kashmir region would be organised as per the guidelines given by Mahajan, with party workers taking the message of Seva, Sankalp and public service to the people.

Mahajan called upon BJP leaders and workers to work collectively for the successful organisation of the Seva Jyoti Yatra on October 7 and to further strengthen the party’s direct connect with the people across Jammu & Kashmir.
