A political dispute has erupted in Rajasthan over the supply of fertiliser for the rabi cropping season, with state parties accusing each other of mismanagement.
The Rajasthan government’s handling of fertiliser allocation for the upcoming rabi season has become the centre of a heated political controversy. Opposition leaders claim that delays and uneven distribution are jeopardising the sowing plans of thousands of farmers across the state.
State officials, however, contend that the supply chain is functioning within normal parameters and that any shortfalls are due to logistical challenges beyond their immediate control. They have pointed to recent deliveries to major district depots as evidence of progress.
Farmers’ unions have joined the debate, warning that insufficient fertiliser could depress crop yields and affect rural incomes. The agriculture department has promised to monitor stock levels closely and to expedite any pending consignments.
The issue is expected to be raised in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in the coming weeks, as both the ruling party and the opposition seek to position themselves as champions of the farming community during a crucial agricultural cycle.
