Rajasthan's Private Schools Face Mass Closures, Committee Warns Government

The Rajasthan Private School Struggle Committee warned that nearly 90% of the state's private schools are on the verge of shutting down, risking jobs for about one million staff and disrupting education for millions of children.
The committee presented its concerns to the state government, highlighting an unprecedented financial crisis among private schools in Rajasthan.
According to the committee, declining enrolments, rising operational costs and delayed fee payments have pushed close to nine out of ten private schools toward insolvency.
If the situation escalates, an estimated one million teachers, support staff and ancillary workers could lose their jobs, while millions of students may be left without schooling options.
The committee urged the government to intervene with immediate financial assistance, policy relief and a coordinated plan to prevent a large‑scale disruption of the education sector.
Officials have not yet responded publicly, and the issue is expected to be discussed in upcoming meetings between the education department and school representatives.
