The Rajasthan government announced a plan to set up Atal Knowledge Centres in all gram panchayats across the state, aiming to boost digital access and skill development at the grassroots level.
New Delhi – The Rajasthan state administration has unveiled a statewide initiative to create Atal Knowledge Centres (AKCs) in every gram panchayat. The scheme, named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is intended to provide rural communities with internet connectivity, digital services and skill‑training resources.
The centres will be managed by the state’s Information Technology department and are expected to serve as hubs for e‑governance, entrepreneurship support and vocational education. Officials said the rollout will begin in the coming months, with each gram panchayat receiving a fully equipped facility.
By placing AKCs at the grassroots level, the government hopes to narrow the digital divide, create new livelihood opportunities and strengthen the delivery of public services in remote areas of Rajasthan.
