Food safety officials confiscated around 600 kg of potentially unsafe mawa from two trucks at the Ramdevra fair before it could reach pilgrims, and have sent samples for laboratory analysis.

Food safety authorities in Rajasthan carried out a large‑scale seizure at the Ramdevra fair, intercepting roughly 600 kilograms of mawa that was being transported in two separate vehicles. The material was flagged as suspicious before it could be distributed to the gathering of devotees.

According to the department’s statement, the mawa raised concerns about possible contamination, prompting officials to act swiftly under existing food‑safety regulations. Samples of the seized product have been collected and forwarded to a certified laboratory for detailed testing.

The intervention aims to prevent any health hazards that could arise from the consumption of compromised dairy products. The department has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any irregularities in food items sold at large gatherings.

Further actions will depend on the laboratory results, and the authorities have indicated that appropriate legal measures will be taken if the mawa is found to be unsafe or adulterated.
