The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for Kota division today, noting that rainfall so far is 28% below the seasonal average and skies remain overcast.

The Indian Meteorological Department released a rain alert for the Kota division of Rajasthan on Thursday, warning residents of possible showers as cloud cover continues across the region. The alert comes as the division records rainfall that is 28% lower than the long‑term normal for this period.

Pre‑monsoon data show that the cumulative rainfall in Kota so far this season is markedly below average, prompting concerns about water availability for agriculture and local reservoirs. Officials have highlighted that the deficit could affect soil moisture ahead of the upcoming sowing season.

State water authorities have also updated the status of major dams in the area, indicating that water levels remain moderate but are being closely monitored given the reduced inflow. The dams are expected to release water judiciously to meet irrigation needs while maintaining safety margins.

Residents are advised to stay updated through local bulletins, avoid unnecessary travel in low‑visibility conditions, and conserve water wherever possible until the monsoon pattern stabilises.
