The state’s local bodies have begun a door‑to‑door digital survey to identify true owners and resolve urban land disputes across Punjab.

Punjab’s urban local bodies have initiated a door‑to‑door digital mapping exercise aimed at clearing long‑standing land disputes. The survey, conducted by municipal officials, records ownership details directly from property holders using handheld devices, creating a centralized electronic register.
The initiative seeks to confirm the rightful owners of contested parcels, thereby granting them legal title and preventing future litigation. Authorities say the digital database will be linked to the state land records, ensuring transparency and faster dispute resolution.
Officials expect the programme to cover major cities such as Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar within the next few months, after which the verified ownership certificates will be issued to the actual proprietors.
