President Droupadi Murmu and senior military leaders gathered at the National War Memorial in New Delhi to honor the nation’s freedom fighters on the 80th anniversary of independence.
On 15 August 2024, President Droupadi Murmu and the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force assembled at the National War Memorial in New Delhi to pay tribute to India’s freedom fighters.
The ceremony began with the laying of wreaths and a moment of silence, followed by a speech by the President in which she praised the sacrifices of soldiers and urged citizens to uphold the values of independence.
Veterans and current service members delivered a tribute, recalling the bravery and dedication that have shaped India’s defence heritage.
