Prayagraj‑Bihar trains booked out two months ahead for Chhath 2024

All trains from Prayagraj to Bihar for the Chhath festival are fully booked, with waiting lists extending for AC‑3 Tier and Sleeper classes.
The Indian Railways has reported that every train running from Prayagraj to Bihar for the upcoming Chhath Mahaprav, scheduled between 13 and 16 November, reached full capacity about two months before the festival began. Seats in both AC‑3 Tier and Sleeper categories are now on a waiting list, with passengers facing long delays before a berth becomes available.
Railway officials said the early surge in bookings reflects the importance of Chhath for pilgrims travelling from Uttar Pradesh to Bihar, where the festival is primarily observed. The "no‑room" situation has prompted many travelers to explore alternative routes, such as connecting via Patna or using private buses.
Passengers are advised to monitor the IRCTC portal for any cancellations and to consider booking under the Tatkal scheme if they need to travel at short notice. The railway authority is also reviewing the possibility of adding extra coaches on high‑demand services to ease the pressure.
