Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bhogapuram Airport, located near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The 5,000‑crore project is expected to boost regional connectivity and support the state’s tourism and logistics sectors.
The airport will handle up to 4.5 million passengers annually and features a 4,000‑meter runway capable of accommodating large aircraft.
Construction began in 2017 and was completed in 2023, making it one of the largest infrastructure projects in the state.
During the ceremony, Modi highlighted the airport’s role in boosting economic growth and said the government will ensure seamless connectivity with major Indian cities.
