A pickup overloaded with construction workers collided with a divider near Madhopur village in Bakhteyarpur, Bihar, overturning three times, killing driver Mullik Rai on the spot and injuring 12‑13 others.

The accident took place on the Patna‑Bakhtiyarpur four‑lane highway close to Madhopur village, within the Bakhteyarpur police jurisdiction of Bihar's flood‑prone belt. The vehicle, a pickup loaded with manual labourers, lost control and struck a road divider.

The impact caused the pickup to overturn three times, throwing the occupants onto the road. Mullik Rai, who was driving the vehicle, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Emergency responders reported that between twelve and thirteen labourers sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Paramedics rushed the injured to the nearest medical facilities, where they received treatment for fractures, cuts and bruises. Police officials have cordoned off the crash site and are conducting a preliminary investigation to determine the exact cause, including whether overloading or road conditions contributed to the loss of control.

Local authorities have reiterated the need for strict adherence to vehicle load limits and caution on the busy highway, especially in flood‑affected zones where road safety hazards are heightened.
