Patwari Suspended After Registering 51 Plots in Own Name Under Khandwa Ownership Scheme

A village accountant in Khandwa’s Kolgaon panchayat was suspended after a complaint revealed he had transferred 51 land plots to himself and his wife under a government ownership scheme.
Khandwa district’s Kolgaon panchayat came under scrutiny after a resident filed a complaint alleging that the local patwari had illegally recorded 51 land plots in his and his wife’s names under the state‑run ownership scheme. The scheme, intended to allocate land to eligible beneficiaries, was reportedly misused to benefit the official personally.
Following the complaint, district authorities ordered an immediate inquiry. Preliminary findings confirmed that the patwari had indeed entered the plots into his own name, violating procedural norms and the spirit of the scheme. Based on these findings, the patwari was placed on suspension pending further action.
The administration has now launched a departmental investigation to determine the extent of the misconduct and to recommend appropriate disciplinary measures. Officials emphasized that any abuse of government land allocation programs will be dealt with strictly to preserve public trust.
