Parliament Panel Urges MSME Safeguards in CCI Rules After Repeated Violations

✍️ Business Standard 🗓 22 Jul 2026, 11:18 AM 👁 5

A parliamentary panel has highlighted recurring breaches of competition law and called for stronger protection for micro, small and medium enterprises in the Competition Commission of India's regulatory framework.

The parliamentary panel reviewed the Competition Commission of India's (CCI) rules and found that large firms have repeatedly violated competition norms. It urged lawmakers to amend the CCI framework to provide clearer safeguards for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which are often disadvantaged in market disputes. The panel’s recommendations will be tabled in Parliament and could shape forthcoming amendments to the Competition Act. By tightening enforcement and ensuring fair competition, the panel believes MSMEs can better compete against larger players.
