Heavy rainfall has caused extensive waterlogging in Ahmedabad, prompting authorities to declare a red alert in eight districts of Gujarat.

Heavy rains swept across Gujarat on Tuesday, leaving large parts of Ahmedabad under water. Streets in the city turned into temporary streams, disrupting traffic and daily activities. The municipal corporation reported that several low‑lying areas were most affected, with residents seeking higher ground.

In response to the worsening situation, the state disaster management authority raised the alert level to red for eight districts, including Ahmedabad. The red alert signals the highest level of emergency, urging citizens to stay vigilant and follow safety directives.

Local officials have mobilised emergency teams to clear drainage channels and assist stranded commuters. While the rain is expected to subside later in the day, authorities remain on high alert to prevent further flooding.

The public is advised to avoid non‑essential travel, keep emergency kits ready, and stay updated through official channels.
