Punjab police recovered pistol cartridges delivered by a Pakistani drone in the fields of Rana Panj Garay, Firozpur, and have lodged a case in Mohali.
Punjab police uncovered a cache of pistol cartridges that had been air‑dropped by a drone allegedly launched from Pakistan. The ammunition was found in the agricultural fields owned by a local farmer, Rana Panj Garay, near Firozpur.
Investigators traced the drone's flight path and confirmed that the payload was intended for illicit distribution in the border region. The seized cartridges have been handed over to forensic teams for further analysis.
Following the recovery, authorities registered a formal case at the Mohali police station, invoking provisions of the Arms Act and anti‑smuggling laws. The incident underscores growing concerns over cross‑border weapon trafficking using unmanned aerial vehicles.
Security officials have warned that such drone‑based smuggling attempts could pose a serious threat to public safety and have called for heightened surveillance along the India‑Pakistan frontier.
