Oil India’s renewable subsidiary has signed a memorandum of understanding with several Haryana municipal bodies to produce compressed biogas (CBG) and develop clean‑energy projects.

Oil India’s green arm, the company’s renewable energy subsidiary, recently concluded a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a group of municipal authorities in Haryana. The agreement, signed in the presence of senior officials from both sides, sets the framework for collaborative projects aimed at producing compressed biogas (CBG) and expanding clean‑energy infrastructure.

Under the MoU, the municipalities will facilitate the collection of organic waste and its conversion into CBG, a low‑carbon fuel that can be used for transport, power generation and cooking. Oil India will provide the technology, expertise and financing required to set up the biogas plants and related distribution networks.

The partnership aligns with Haryana’s broader push for sustainable energy and waste‑to‑resource initiatives. Officials expect the projects to reduce landfill pressure, cut greenhouse‑gas emissions and create local employment opportunities, while contributing to India’s national clean‑energy targets.
