The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red, orange and yellow flood alerts for the state of Odisha following the arrival of a massive low‑pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. The system is expected to bring heavy rainfall across the coastal districts, raising the risk of flash floods and riverine overflow.
The red alert, the highest level of warning, covers districts such as Cuttack, Puri and Ganjam, where authorities have been advised to prepare emergency response teams and ensure that evacuation routes are clear.
