The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said that Odisha added 7,800 new 5G home broadband users during September, reflecting growing demand for high‑speed internet in the state.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released data showing that the eastern state of Odisha recorded an increase of 7,800 5G home broadband connections in September. This rise brings the state's total 5G residential subscriber base to a higher figure, underscoring the accelerating adoption of next‑generation internet services outside metropolitan hubs.

Industry analysts attribute the growth to the rollout of 5G infrastructure by major telecom operators and the launch of affordable broadband plans aimed at households. The new connections are expected to enhance digital inclusion, supporting remote work, online education, and streaming services in both urban and semi‑urban areas of Odisha.

TRAI's monthly report also highlighted that similar trends are being observed in other states, but Odisha's month‑on‑month increase ranks among the top performers for September. The regulator continues to monitor service quality and coverage as the 5G ecosystem expands across the country.
