Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the proposed mega‑redevelopment of the SCB Medical College in Cuttack, outlining the project's scope and timeline.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visited Cuttack on Monday to examine the state's ambitious redevelopment blueprint for the Sriram Chandra Bhanja (SCB) Medical College. The site tour was part of a broader effort to modernise the institution's infrastructure and expand its capacity for medical education and research.
During the review, officials briefed the CM on plans to upgrade existing classrooms, laboratories, and hospital wings, as well as to construct new state‑of‑the‑art facilities. The redevelopment aims to increase student intake, introduce advanced specialty departments, and improve patient care services attached to the college.
The government has earmarked substantial funds for the project, which is slated to be executed in phases over the coming years. Patnaik emphasized that timely completion will strengthen Odisha's health‑care ecosystem and provide better training opportunities for future doctors.
Stakeholders, including college administrators and health‑department officials, expressed confidence that the upgraded campus will attract top faculty and research collaborations, positioning SCB Medical College as a leading medical institution in eastern India.
