The National Medical Commission has issued a Letter of Permission to add 175 MBBS seats in Andhra Pradesh, expanding medical education capacity.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a Letter of Permission (LoP) to increase the number of MBBS seats by 175 in Andhra Pradesh. The approval covers several government and private medical colleges across the state, allowing them to admit more students in the upcoming academic year.
This expansion aims to address the growing demand for medical professionals in the region and to reduce the gap between the number of available seats and the number of aspiring medical students. By boosting capacity, the NMC hopes to improve access to medical education and, ultimately, healthcare services for the population.
The decision follows the NMC’s broader strategy to raise the total number of MBBS seats nationwide, as part of its mandate to enhance the quality and reach of medical training. The new seats will be subject to the same regulatory standards and quality checks as existing programs.
The announcement was made by the NMC’s executive committee and is expected to take effect from the next enrollment cycle, with the first batch of students slated to begin classes in the 2025-26 academic year.
