The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved a ₹1,380 crore investment to upgrade the Ranchi‑Mahulia stretch in Jharkhand, aiming to improve connectivity and boost regional development.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a ₹1,380 crore investment to upgrade the Ranchi‑Mahulia stretch in Jharkhand. The funding will be used to widen lanes, strengthen bridges and install modern safety features along the 70‑kilometre corridor.
Currently, the route suffers from narrow lanes and frequent bottlenecks, hindering trade between Ranchi and Mahulia. The upgrade is expected to reduce travel time by up to 30% and improve freight movement for local industries.
Construction is slated to begin in September 2024, with a projected completion date of late 2026. The project will create approximately 2,500 temporary jobs and is part of a broader national initiative to enhance connectivity in eastern India.
Jharkhand’s Chief Minister expressed confidence that the new highway will spur economic growth and attract investment to the region, while NHAI officials highlighted the importance of safe and efficient road infrastructure for long‑term development.
