NEET PG 2026: New Rules Make Exam a Must for MD, MS and PG Diploma Seats

The 2026 NEET PG examination will be a compulsory entry requirement for all MD, MS and PG Diploma courses across India, according to the latest guidelines.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post‑Graduation (NEET PG) is slated to take place in 2026 under a revised framework announced by the Medical Council of India. The new guidelines state that a valid NEET PG score is now mandatory for admission into all MD, MS and PG Diploma programmes offered by medical colleges nationwide.
Under the updated rules, institutions that previously accepted other qualifying marks for postgraduate courses will no longer do so. Candidates who wish to pursue advanced medical degrees must now secure a qualifying score in the NEET PG exam to be considered for any seat.
The change is expected to streamline the admission process and ensure uniform standards across the country. Medical aspirants are advised to register early, prepare rigorously for the exam, and stay updated on the official notification for dates and cut‑off marks.
The Ministry of Health has also announced that the NEET PG 2026 will be conducted in a single‑day format, with a total of 200 multiple‑choice questions covering subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, and Forensic Medicine.
