Indian‑born NASA astronaut Anil Menon voted while aboard the space station, joining other crew members who have also cast ballots from orbit.
NASA astronaut Anil Menon, who hails from India, participated in a voting exercise while stationed aboard the International Space Station. The astronaut used a remote voting mechanism that allowed him to register his ballot from orbit, making him the first Indian to vote from space.
Menon's vote was recorded alongside those of other crew members who have previously exercised their voting rights from the same orbital platform. The exercise demonstrates the feasibility of remote civic participation for citizens serving in extreme environments.
The event underscores the growing intersection of space technology and democratic processes, highlighting how digital tools can bridge geographic barriers even beyond Earth’s atmosphere.
