Mohali Council Approves Regularisation of Contract Staff, Plans New Rainwater Drain

The Mohali municipal body has approved a proposal to convert contractual workers into regular employees and has also sanctioned the construction of a dedicated rainwater drain.
The municipal council of Mohali voted to regularise all contractual employees currently serving the corporation, aiming to grant them permanent status and related benefits.
The resolution was passed during a council meeting, with a majority of members supporting the move as a step toward better service delivery and employee morale.
In the same session, officials approved the construction of a new drainage channel intended to channel rainwater away from flood‑prone zones of the city, addressing recurring monsoon‑season waterlogging.
The drainage work will be undertaken by the city’s public works department and funded from the municipal budget, with implementation slated for the upcoming monsoon cycle.
Council representatives said the twin measures underscore the administration’s focus on strengthening both human resources and urban infrastructure for Mohali’s growing population.
