Modi, UAE President Discuss West Asia Peace, Boost Strategic Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held discussions on the West Asia situation, emphasizing dialogue and diplomacy for regional peace. The leaders also reviewed bilateral cooperation and ways to strengthen the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian-les-Bains, France. The leaders engaged in discussions concerning the prevailing situation in West Asia, jointly stressing the critical importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law for achieving lasting peace, security, and stability in the region.
During their conversation, both leaders reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including technology, trade, investment, energy, and defence. The discussions aimed at further energizing the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, building upon recent high-level visits between the two nations. This meeting marked the third encounter between Prime Minister Modi and President Al Nahyan in 2026, highlighting the robust and dynamic nature of their strategic alliance.
Prime Minister Modi expressed his appreciation for the UAE's care and concern towards the Indian community residing in the Emirates. The Ministry of External Affairs noted that the leaders also called for the continuation of free, safe, and unimpeded navigation, trade, and commerce through the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, PM Modi extended an invitation to President Al Nahyan to attend the upcoming BRICS Summit, which India is set to host later this year.
