Mizoram CM Lalduhoma Reviews Kaladan Project, Railway Expansion and Border Fence

Chief Minister Lalduhoma inspected the status of the Kaladan Multi‑Modal Transit Transport Project, a new railway link and ongoing border‑fencing work in Mizoram.
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma conducted a comprehensive review of three major infrastructure initiatives in the state. The inspection covered the Kaladan Multi‑Modal Transit Transport Project, which seeks to connect Mizoram to the sea port of Sittwe in Myanmar, the proposed railway line intended to link the state with the national rail network, and the construction of a border fence along the Myanmar frontier.
During the review, the CM met with project officials and security agencies, examined progress reports and field sites, and asked for accelerated timelines. He highlighted that faster completion of the Kaladan corridor would boost trade and tourism, while the railway expansion is critical for integrating the Northeast with the rest of India.
The border‑fencing effort, aimed at curbing illegal crossings and enhancing security, was also scrutinised. Lalduhoma directed the concerned departments to resolve any bottlenecks, ensure quality work and keep the public informed of milestones.
All three projects are part of the central government's broader strategy to improve connectivity, economic development and security in the region. The CM pledged continued state support to see the initiatives through to fruition.
