The Meghalaya government has inaugurated a block‑level CM CONNECT centre in the town of Sohiong. The centre is part of the state’s broader digital governance initiative, designed to bring government services closer to citizens at the grassroots level.
The CM CONNECT platform, which has been rolled out across several states, offers a range of services including application processing, grievance redressal, and information dissemination. By establishing a physical hub in Sohiong, the state aims to enhance accessibility and streamline interactions between residents and government departments.
During the launch, officials highlighted the centre’s role in fostering digital inclusion and reducing the need for residents to travel to distant district offices. The facility is expected to serve as a one‑stop point for various civic services, thereby improving efficiency and transparency.
In addition to the centre’s inauguration, the government announced a series of projects worth Rs 140 crore earmarked for development in Sohiong. These projects are intended to complement the digital infrastructure and support local economic growth.
