Meghalaya declared safe for tourists as law and order stabilises, says Home Minister

Shillong, Meghalaya – Home Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters that the state has restored normal law and order after a period of unrest, and that it is now safe for visitors. He emphasized that the administration has taken decisive steps to curb any residual disturbances and ensure public safety.

The minister highlighted that recent incidents have been contained and that police presence has been strengthened across key tourist spots, including the popular hill stations and cultural sites. He added that the government is closely monitoring the situation to prevent any relapse.

Tynsong urged domestic and international tourists to resume travel to Meghalaya, citing its natural beauty, tribal heritage and adventure opportunities. He assured that the state’s tourism infrastructure remains fully operational and that visitors can expect a secure and welcoming environment.
