New Delhi, Oct 11 (Northeast News) – The Chief Minister of Meghalaya presented a comprehensive Early Childhood Development (ECD) model to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a high‑profile summit in the capital. The model, crafted by the state government, outlines strategies for nutrition, health, pre‑school education and community engagement aimed at improving outcomes for children under six years of age.
The CM highlighted that Meghalaya has piloted several components of the framework in remote districts, reporting measurable gains in school readiness and child health indicators. By showcasing the model to the Prime Minister, the state seeks central support for scaling the initiative nationwide.
Prime Minister Modi acknowledged the effort, noting the importance of early interventions in building a skilled future workforce. He invited Meghalaya officials to collaborate with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Women and Child Development to integrate the model into existing national schemes.
The summit, attended by senior policymakers and education experts, provided a platform for states to share innovative approaches. Meghalaya’s proposal is expected to be reviewed by the central government before any funding or policy integration decisions are made.
