The Chief Minister of Meghalaya inaugurated the new Synod College building in Nongstoin, saying education is essential for the state's progress.

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya officially opened the newly constructed building of Synod College in the hill town of Nongstoin. The ceremony was attended by college officials, local dignitaries and members of the community who gathered to mark the milestone.
During the inauguration, the CM emphasized that education remains the cornerstone of development, urging students and parents to make full use of the upgraded facilities. He highlighted the role of higher‑education institutions in empowering youth and driving socio‑economic growth in the region.
The new structure adds modern classrooms, a library and laboratory spaces, aiming to improve the quality of instruction and expand enrollment. State officials said the upgrade aligns with Meghalaya's broader agenda to strengthen educational infrastructure across remote districts.
Local leaders welcomed the development, noting that better facilities will reduce the need for students to travel long distances for higher studies. The CM reiterated the government's commitment to invest further in education as a pathway to progress.
The inauguration concluded with a cultural program showcasing the heritage of the Khasi‑Pnar community, reflecting the college's integration with regional traditions.
