Philanthropist Annamalai opened the newly‑named Kalam Academy, attended by Dr Abdul Kalam’s family and a veteran of the Indian National Army.
The ceremony to launch the Kalam Academy was held today, with philanthropist Annamalai presiding over the event. The academy, named in honour of the late President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, aims to promote science, technology and innovation education among youth.
Family members of Dr Kalam were present to witness the inauguration, underscoring the personal significance of the institution. An INA veteran also attended, symbolising the broader national heritage that the academy seeks to inspire.
Speakers highlighted the academy’s vision to provide hands‑on learning labs, mentorship programmes and scholarships for meritorious students. The gathering concluded with a ribbon‑cutting ceremony and a brief tour of the newly‑equipped facilities.
Organisers said the academy will collaborate with schools and research bodies across the country to nurture the next generation of scientists and engineers, continuing Dr Kalam’s legacy of ‘knowledge for nation‑building’.
