Manipur Government Presses for NRC Update Ahead of 2024 Census

Manipur's state government has again urged that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) be updated before the national census slated for 2024. Officials argue that a fresh NRC is crucial to settle lingering citizenship disputes and to ensure the census captures the current resident population accurately. The demand was restated in a statement to the Ukhrul Times, calling on the centre to act without delay.
