Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha of Manipur today launched a mission to transform the town of Kangpokpi into a high‑value agricultural hub. The initiative seeks to modernise farming practices, improve value addition and strengthen market linkages for local farmers.
The mission will focus on introducing advanced cultivation techniques, providing training to farmers, and establishing infrastructure such as cold storage and processing units. By creating a conducive environment for agribusiness, the plan aims to boost income for the region’s agricultural community.
Officials said the project will be implemented in phases, with the first phase targeting the most productive crops in Kangpokpi. The government will also facilitate access to credit and market information for farmers to ensure sustainable growth.
The launch was attended by local leaders, agricultural experts and representatives from the state’s agriculture department, all of whom expressed optimism about the potential economic benefits of the initiative.
